Why our online learning works
We facilitate curricula using an interactive, cognitive behavior therapy based approach. Evidence shows that impactful learning combines social, emotional and academic integration. We use the Kahoot! platform to keep classes interactive and to verify comprehension in real time. Read the research behind Kahoot!
How we know what works
Our facilitators are law enforcement trained and National Safety Council certified. Every course ends with an anonymous student evaluation. We use those results to track learning outcomes and refine instruction across every cohort.

Alive at 25®
Alive at 25® is a 4.5-hour live, instructor-led Zoom program for drivers ages 16 to 24, a group with elevated crash and fatality risk. Developed by the National Safety Council and used nationwide, the program is designed to improve judgment, reinforce accountability, reduce repeat violations and promote public safety. Our course specifically addresses California traffic laws, violations and driver responsibility.
While traditional driver education focuses on vehicle operation, Alive at 25® addresses the behavioral factors behind most young-driver collisions: inexperience, distraction, peer influence, impulsive decision-making and underestimating risk. Using Choice Theory™, students examine how everyday choices affect safety, legal outcomes and future opportunities.
Instruction is delivered by facilitators with law enforcement backgrounds using structured, accountable methods focused on successful completion and safer future conduct.
What students learn
- How distractions, peer pressure and split-second decisions increase crash risk
- How to recognize and avoid high-risk driving behaviors
- The real-world legal, financial and personal consequences of unsafe driving
- Common California Vehicle Code violations and how to avoid them
- The risks and consequences of impaired driving, including DUI
- How personal choices behind the wheel affect themselves and others
ADoD / Attitudinal Dynamics of Driving
ADoD is an 8-hour educational program developed by the National Safety Council. This evidence-based course uses cognitive behavioral therapy strategies to correct unsafe attitudes, improve judgment and build responsible decision-making habits. The program serves drivers of all ages, including individuals referred or ordered by a court, probation department, or other agency.
California courts and agencies nationwide use ADoD for diversion, educational sentencing and driver improvement matters involving traffic violations, repeat offenders, criminal Vehicle Code violations and alcohol-related offenses. Instruction covers defensive driving principles, DUI awareness, review of traffic laws, risk recognition and collision-prevention strategies.
The course includes a self-assessment survey and structured action plan designed to help participants change risky driving behavior and reduce recidivism.
Truck Driver Improvement Course (TDIC)
TDIC is a specialized commercial driver education program built from National Safety Council Defensive Driving curricula. It is commonly ordered or used in matters involving load, weight, scale, equipment and mechanical violations.
Consistent with 49 CFR § 384.226, TDIC may not be used to mask, defer, or otherwise alter the reporting of a commercial driver conviction.
DDC-4 / 4-Hour Defensive Driving Course
DDC-4 is a four-hour self-paced National Safety Council Defensive Driving Course. It uses real-world scenarios, hazard recognition exercises and proven defensive driving methods to address risky habits and behaviors associated with collisions and traffic violations.
Course content adapts to participant inputs -- driving behaviors, attitudes, vehicle type and geographic conditions -- creating a more relevant learning experience for each student.

Alive at 25® & ADoD students will be mailed their certificate of completion after completing their course.
